Samut saring Balita

No erase, period!

This is not a title in some tabloid, tunog-tabloid lang.

Hubert Webb after 15yrs in prison:

Haaay, the fact that they were acquitted doesn't mean they did not do the crime. Si Batman na bahala sa kanila.

Oplan Isnabero:
This is DOTC's drive against abusive and snobbish cabbies. The nerve. Pag may bagahe, 350! Kalokohan. I'll look into it and I'll get back to you." Pakshet.

Yep, I did speak with the mayor last year. Napanaginipan ko yun eh.

New Philippine Banknotes:
Excited ako dito.  All the seven banknotes denominations (20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000), have a new design. Pati narin ang coins. Central Bank of the Philippines will start distributing the new 20 peso bill tomorrow. They upgraded the security features of all banknotes to make it easier for the public to detect fake money. [Insert Kris-laugh-here: Ahah, hah, hah, hah!]

Eto yung ubod ng bagong-bagong design.

Biro lang. Eto talaga.

Setting the Holiday Mood [new title]

Christmas won't be as much as fun as last year on two counts. One, I'm unable to find a job I really like (like, not need), and two, I have no money to buy gifts. I'm hoarding what's left of my little dough and I'm trying not to waste it so I'm spending a lot of my time at home. The only time I went out to have fun was last Thursday. It was Serg's birthday and booze was free - thank Gawd, alcohol! In the local news, both cases against Hayden Kho and Hubert Webb were dismissed. Well, I don't care much about Halili, but I feel sorry for Mr. Vizconde because I really think Webb is the culprit.  (It's obvious that I'm telling about the local news for the lack of better things to say). Pfft... oh well, I don't really give a flying fuck about Kho and Webb. Really.

I feel soooo sad that it's Christmas and I'm broke. Pfft. Call me materialistic, but you'd know that I love you, or care about you, if I spend money on you. Please don't lecture me about different ways of showing love other than giving gifts. I know and I recognize them all. It's just that, with me showing love to others, giving gifts is the easiest. Besides, money is something that I don't have lots of, so I really value it. Words of affirmation, physical touch, quality time, and acts of service are the other love languages that I appreciate and recognize.  It's me expressing these love languages to others that I'm having trouble with. I'm really sad (and I'm saying this again, I know) but this isn't depression - though I've called this as such countless times before. What I used to know as depression is really dissatisfaction, and you may call this a case of paradigm shift. Wanting what I don't have (moolah) and taking the things I have for granted, just like what many other people do to make their already complicated lives more complicated - is nothing but dissatisfaction.  For me, it's the root of all sadness.  It's funny that I'm aware of this, yet here I am whining about being broke and sad and blah blah shit blah. Hmmkei, I really shouldn't be sad, because I'm lucky I have a home and family! Many people don't have both.

Oh...love? What is it? Pfft.

Well, sorry dear bloggy, your parent is a bore. When you're not able to go out and record, things don't happen that much. I just felt I needed to write something here so you'd know I'm alive.

Not much to blather about today, so I'll just post my new paintings (or stained cloth, if you prefer calling it that way) I made last week.

Acrylic on 20 x 14 inch canvas

Acrylic on 18 x 12 inch canvas

There's actually another one, but I'll post it some other time.  Wait, how about my paintings as Christmas presents?  Hmmm.... never actually thought of it.  Sounds like a good idea, but, errrr, I don't have new canvases.  Oh well.  I'm not good in giving hugs and kisses, but that's all I have.  Tsaka pag-ibig, katatagan, at pag-asa.  Babawi na lang ako next year.  Promise.

Down to Zilch

I thought I'd be putting up some good news here today, but pfft, forget about the good news. I have none. I just had another one of those screw-you-all days today. I went to some big company in Mandaluyong only to be pissed-off the rest of the day.

Why not lay all the cards down outright to avoid wasting both party's time?! Takte talaga nakakapang-init sila ng ulo kanina!!!

You prolly are wondering what the crock is about. Pfft. Confidential. Let's leave it that way for now. I'm not yet done with them (I'm want to kill them!!!)

The sentence prior this, of course, is a joke.

Good thing my sister's place is just a stone-throw away from where I had gone to. So we met up and went to McDonalds - her treat, of course, as I am totally broke and was overly pissed. I felt better after the early dinner. The fries was able to calm me down. Well, it always does. Some useless info here: If I'm in a bad mood and you want to cheer me up, take me to McDonalds and buy me a large fries (not the twister fries - errr, I don't like its taste and it's ridiculously high priced), better yet get me a BigMc combo meal and up size the fries and soda. Or take me to Wendy's and buy me the most expensive burger meal they have, in Biggie! That will surely lift my spirit back to its normal scale. In case you can't find fries (yes I'm not done yet), you can get me a box of pizza or half-a-gallon of chocolate ice cream with almonds or a genuine Mexican tacos. That's more than enough to make me smile from ear to ear. You see, I'm so easy to please. I turn into a child when presented with fries and pizza.

Now I'm feinding for real Mexican tacos. :-(

I want this!!!  Now!!!

My sister had to leave for work after our early dinner at McDo, so we didn't have much time to hang out. I was happy again after the dinner. Relieved, and slightly elated at the sour feeling and anger I had overcome, I thought of treating myself a medium size of Manila Scramble, which was right outside the mall. Used to have it everyday when I was in elementary and high school. I love scramble so much that a portion of my daily allowance was solely dedicated to it. While I was waiting in line, behind me were two old ladies talking about tonight's jackpot prize in the lottery. A whopping 495 Million Pesosesoses!!! I was soooo surprised it ballooned to that amount! I mean, it's the biggest jackpot in Philippine history!!! While I was waiting for my turn to get my medium size scramble, I asked one of the old ladies where the nearest lottery outlet is. It's inside the mall, I was told. So, while I was feeling nostalgic with my scramble, I found myself scrambling back inside the mall to place my bets in the lottery. The jackpot prize is 495 million, I thought, if I win I'd give half of it to charity, and the rest would be divided and shared with my folks at home. I was feeling hopeful, and I'm sure everybody else in line was. Two number combinations, and I was done. I folded 6 lotto cards (they're just there, uncontrolled - so might as well use a lot) and carefully placed my ticket in between to protect it.

But what are the odds of actually winning the 6/55 grand lotto? Well, it's one in 28,989,675! Pull up an excel worksheet and in a cell type-in =combin(55,6) to see the number. The probability of getting hit by a lightning might even be greater than winning the lottery. Pffft. But who knows, I might just win!  If I do, I'd get a house in Ayala Alabang, or in DasmariƱas Village or Forbes Park in Makati, and I'd put up a business to make my money produce more and more money until I'm rich enough to tell Henry Sy to move over.

XD

My already-happy feeling turned sour again when I took the bus home. An old crush, who was a schoolmate in high school, was on the same bus and asked me to take the seat next to her. I got surprised and excited because we did not see each other for more than 5 years. It's what I feel whenever I bump into old friends. How-are-you?,  I asked her excitedly.  She did not answer my question, instead she asked me if it was windy outside (Mahangin ba sa labas?), and started to laugh. That's when I realized my hair was looking shabby and ridiculous. I laughed with her, of course, but truth be told I felt so embarrassed I wish I rode the next bus. So I began explaining to her why my hair was such a mess and how it managed to cross the line of being unmanageable. I told her I cut my hair and that I'm actually pretty good at it (which is really true, but this talent is restricted to my own hair so don't ask me to cut yours) but I lost control of my hair when I forgot to trim it like what I used to do every couple of weeks or so, since I am mostly at home. So I pretty much embraced my semi-long hair and let it grow, I told her. Then she asked me where I work, yadah-yadah-yadah, and she began to tell stories about her great job as a boss in an international company, and then she showed me pictures of her husband and son, yadah-yadah-yadah....
....
....
....
and my sense of self-worth plummeted from its normal scale to zilch.

Pfft.

So much for the happiness that the large fries from McDonalds gave me. It just unraveled during the entire trip. Thanks to my old crush.

I got home, feeling gloomy and down, and sorry for myself.  I waited for the lotto draw, and of course, I didn't win. Not a single number from the winning combination is in my ticket.

Tomorrow is another day.  Oh Gawd I hope it's better!

Sy - wannabe

I've been trying to set myself in the mood for a fresh start. Getting a new job and updating and refreshing this blog, as well as the other, is part of the fresh start I am aiming. Keeping two blogs at a time is not a small thing. Why I am keeping two blogs is, errr, none of your effing business - haha, just kidding. While I am keeping two blogs, I still don't think it's being redundant (for one, my other blog is still almost empty). Things that I normally do, and normally happen in my everyday life, will be posted here. The other side of me, pfft - and all those emoish-litany-blahs, will be thrown in my other blog. Emoish shits and rants and the sort of - you know. Honestly, I really don't want to do that anymore, but if it can't be helped, then it can't be helped. If I'd have some shits to rant about in the future, then that's where it would go. That's proper segregation of garbage.

Goals have been set and I just need to work on them, even little by little. Getting a new job tops my goals, resigning afterwards follows (haha, kidding). I'll try to stay longer in my next job. Sometimes I wish I were born rich so I could do and buy everything I want for myself and my family, or, at least everything we need. My mom got mad at me one time when I jokingly asked her to return me to my real parents (I was referring to Henry Sy's son - if ever he has one, i don't know). But of course it was all just a joke. I'm my parent's biological son and I'm not complaining (never will).  It's just that, I think I'd be happier (correct term is more satisfied) if we were rich. Who wouldn't be?

To those who are expecting to get their 13th month pay this month, or in Dec - screw you, jerks!!! Hahahaha.... I'm not bitter or anything, I swear. XD

Dati ginagamit ko lang pamaypay ang pera...! XD

I know I am going to get a new job before the month (or year...waaah) ends... God is preparing the perfect job for me and I can feel it materializing. Ang kumontra mamamatay!  Hehe... XD

This doesn't make sense anymore. Byerts now! XD

It's in the blood! [on being hot and rich]

Went out today with Creamer and watched the Twilight Saga, Eclipse.  Teee heee! XD.  I haven't read the novel (never will), so as expected, I bugged creamer with many questions while we were watching the picture (thank you so much Creamer for the patience. XD)  We also watched the New Moon when it was shown last year, but, honestly, I don't remember much about the movie.

I'm not going to write a review about Eclipse.  Pfft, many already did and I don't want to add up to it.  I liked the movie, but it's not really the best.  Disney-Pixar's animated movie, UP, still tops my chart.  [Errr, what's the connection?].  Quite a few quotable quotes, but the one I remember the most is, "I am hotter than you.", Jacob to Edward.  Haha, o sige ikaw na hotter!  He actually meant warmer, as in body temperature, not the other hotter that you have in mind now.

Nasa dugo lang yan! (It's in the blood!)

Was watching TV Patrol earlier and one of the news was the recent list of Forbes Asia's Richest Men in the Philippines.  Henry Sy, still, is the richest with an estimated net worth of $5 US Billion (woooohoooooo!!!), followed by Lucio Tan with $2.1 US Billion, and John Gokongwei Jr. with $1.5 US Billion.  Geez....What are they going to do with that money?  Today's exchange rate: 1 U.S. dollar = 46.4900046 Philippine pesos.  If we do the math, $5 US Billion is equivalent to Php232.45 Billion.  Imagine that!  If I were Henry Sy, and let's say, if I were to live another 100 yrs, (given that each yr has 365.25days, and assuming that the exchange rate remains the same in the next 100yrs), I could spend up to 6,364,309.00Php each day!  That's spending around 265,179.54Php every hour in 100 years!  The total population of the Philippines is estimated at 94,013,200 million according to National Statistics Office.  With this data, Henry Sy can give Filipinos 2,450.00 Php each and still live with Php2.1 Billion.  Holy flying cow!

That was just here in the Philippines.  Just imagine if we talk about the richest man in the world.

In my current financial and economic status, I effing envy Henry Sy! @_@

We have a copy, at home, of Entrepreneur Philippines' "Success Secrets of the Country's 50 Top Entrepreneurs".  Of course Henry Sy is in the book and I learned a few facts about him.  Chinese immigrant Henry Sy came to Manila from China (where else) before the second World War.  He was only 12, and his family had no money when they migrated  He only started attending formal school when they got here.  Yep, he was already 12 when he started Grade one.  He entered college at age 26, but because of his booming buy and sell business at that time (selling shoes, I believe), he had to quit college after two years, and concentrate on his business.  Now, he's (dyaran!) the Asia's shopping mall king, and one of the planet's wealthiest people. That's a real rugs-to-riches story.  And more than 40 years after he quit college, De La Salle University conferred on him an honorary doctorate in business management in 1999.  He was already the shopping mall king before he got his doctorate.  You see, not having a formal college education is never a hindrance to become financially successful.  (So yeah, quit school jerks!  Stop wasting your time!  Diploma is just a fucking piece of recycled paper that doesn't really hold a meaning! - ok, now this is just a joke.  A college degree is always a plus).  Success came to Sy only as a result of hardwork, and errr....I do not know. @_@

Here's a Golden Rule according to Henry Sy:
There is no such thing as overnight success or easy money.  If you fail, do not be discouraged; try again.  When you do well, do not change your ways.  Success is not just good luck; it is a combination of hard work, good credit standing, opportunity, readiness and timing.  Success will not last if you do not take care of it.
-Entrepreneur Philippines' "Success Secrets of the Country's 50 Top Entrepreneurs".
Henry Sy (ID photo, hehe)

I'm feeling inspired now.  Teee heee! XD  But wait, how come the richest men in the Philippines are Chinese (Sy, Tan, Gokongwei,)?  What happened to the many intelligent and hard working Filipinos their age? @_@

Siguro nasa dugo lang talaga.  (Maybe it's in the blood.)

Well, I'm going to bed now and dream of sleeping in bed of billions of dollars with Ashley Greene (Alice in the twilight saga, just so you know) in my arms. Teee heee! XD

THANK YOU FOR CALLING...

"Thank you for calling [***bleep] broadband tech support, my name is [insert name here] with tech Id number blah-blah, how may I help you?"

Arrgghh... I am tired... of not working. I need to go out! Yes! I fuckin need a job and start flexing these muscles, or fingers. Well, guess what, I'll be back in the call center. Dyaran! Pffft....

Did a couple of job interviews, already have a couple of job offers too... well, I keep on searching for the one that offers the "best" salary but I just can't seem to find a company that provides the same salary my previous employer was giving me. Arrrgghh... I am tired of going through all those shitty interviews and answering those English proficiency exam-whatever (Oh my Gawd, I already had enough of that shit when I was in School!) and answering questions like "why do you want to work for our company" and hypothetical questions like "how will you describe the color blue to a blind", and other sort of stupid questions... I'm tired of getting in line and waiting for my turn for the job offer only to be dismayed with what they have in the cards for me. Gee....

The Philippines, I must say, is one of the most versatile and capable nation to be trained in the call center industry for American companies. Given that we've been colonized for a few-couple of years by the Americans, and the always-present-English Subjects in Schools, and our media and entertainment being bemused by the western, most of the locals here can at least understand, if not speak, English. And yes, Philippines is one of the best versatile countries in Asia who can perfectly mimic a neutral American accent. And another thing: we are the cheapest to exploit among all other countries in Asia. Sad but true.

Call center is continuously growing in the Philippines. Thousands of jobs are being offered in call centers but the effects of global economic crisis still managed to hit the call center industry even just a bit. Call centers here are continuously hiring but they don't offer the same salary that they used to. Let me just mention this company in Alabang that starts with Gen and ends with pact (Just put it together, ok). I went to their recruitment office a week and some days ago to apply. There were three applicants before me, all girls. The lady on the reception was busy talking some shit on the phone, totally ignoring the presence of the 3 other applicants before me. Good 10 mins passed and the receptionist was still chit-chatting on the phone. Arrgghh... As much as I don't want to intrude and interrupt her blathering on the phone I politely said, "Ahmm...Excuse me miss, I'm sorry for my intrusion but we've been here, standing for quite sometime now, but nobody seems to notice us. We're applicants, if you don't know. Are you going to take are resumes or what???" The lady gave me the oopss-I'm-sorry-I-didn't-notice-you look, and put the phone down but did not hung up. She asked if anybody from us have call center experience. I said I do. She asked me how long, and I answered her. She said, with her sweet American accent, "Sorry sir, but at present time we only accept applicants who don't have call center experience, but you can still leave your resume and we'll contact you in case we have an available position for you."

WHY??? What the fuck is going on??? Can you repeat that, once again, one more time, again and again pleeeaaassee???!!!

Well, for obvious reason, that company only accepts inexperienced applicants to save money. They don't want to pay extra dollars for one's experience since they can just easily get some newbies without accent, train them for a couple of weeks and give them a salary way-way lower that what they usually provide experienced call center peeps.

Arrrggghhh... Is this the end of the world for me?

Now I am feeling sorry about leaving my previous company. But hey, there's no use crying over spilled milk. I remember ranting about that company in Ortigas in my previous post. Well, as much as I hate... I might have no other choice but to accept the offer. I need a good company but I'm really tired of going through all those job interviews... the worst part is that you wouldn't know exactly how much they'll offer you till you get to the actual job offer. My American friend said employers in the US tell their applicants upfront how much they'd be getting as a salary even before they start the initial interview. I wish employers here follow the same process.

For some reason I want to work in Ortigas. Maybe get an apartment again. The account that I'll be working for, if I take their offer, is an Australian Broadband Internet Provider, I checked their company online and was surprised they're the leading telcom and internet provider in Australia. Sounds like a big company, but I don't know how they compare with other accounts, compensation wise. And I'll be part of Wave1, so chances for promotion is bigger. But I really don't give a shit about what they can offer me in the future, promotion, salary increase, etc. We don't know it might be the end of the world next month, so what I really want to consider is what they can offer me TODAY. Another good thing that I like about this job is that it's an Australian account...so the earliest possible shift at work would be 6am...and yeah...I'm tired of (over)working at night, so working during the day and getting a normal life, geting a normal sleep during the normal night time, and waking up during the normal day time and doing the normal things at normal hours of the day is a big BIG plus. Not to mention that Australians are easier to deal with than Americans (mas mabait kesa mga kano) - well, that is just according to a friend who works for an Australian account now.

Wow, I checked my email while I was writing this and saw this on Yahoo News, Forbes: Pacquiao world's 6th highest-paid athlete. In the past 12 months Pacquiao earned something close to $40 million USD, making him the highest-ranking among the four newcomers to the list. Holy phaking shite! That's a lot of money!!! Just click on the link to learn more about it. Speaking of money, yeah... I need money. I need to fly to the US of A! And so I badly need a job. I need MONEY!!!
